Donglin Monastery (East Forest Monastery) is situated at the northwestern foot of Mt. Lushan, approximately 16 km (10 miles) from Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province. Originally constructed in 384 A.D. during the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420), it gained popularity during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Over the years, the monastery suffered damage but has undergone recent renovations. Today, it attracts numerous Buddhist disciples and visitors daily. The monastery predominantly features wooden structures, which often result in poor thermal insulation performance due to numerous doors, windows, and large gaps, leading to significant air leakage. Preserving the temple's decorative style and cultural requirements while addressing these issues posed a challenge. To meet these requirements, the Strada system was employed, characterized by its simple and smooth lines, aligning with the temple's design ethos. Furthermore, low-temperature water radiators were strategically installed beneath the windows to effectively mitigate cold bridges within the rooms. This placement helps prevent cold wind from infiltrating the space, thereby maintaining a comfortable environment. The system operates efficiently with water temperatures running at 30 degrees Celsius, ensuring both energy savings and thermal comfort within the monastery.
